One of my goals for 2019 is to read twelve books, one book a month. I thought to keep myself accountable, I would start a book club. As I have grown older and busier, I do not read as much as I should and would like to. Instead of reading, I am usually scrolling through my Instagram feed. Therefore, in an attempt to be more productive in 2019, I am putting my free time to better use.
Now I have never participated in a book club before, so I am making this up as I go (if any of you have any advice – help a friend out!) I thought that The Book Club could focus on six books. Six books that I think many of us will enjoy reading. The list includes best sellers, one on Oprah’s must read list, and a novel written by a local creative. There is a healthy mix of fiction and non-fiction books.
The six books are listed below along with a suggested reading plan for The Book Club. I have included links to Amazon to make it easy for you to purchase!
January & February – Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
March & April – An American Marriage by Tayari Jones
May & June – Educated by Tara Westover
July & August – Almost Everything Notes on Hope by Anne Lamot
Sept & October – Tell Me Everything by Cambria Brockman
November – The Friend by Sigrid Nunez
Now for the club part, I figure we could meet at rotating locations every two months and get together to discuss the books, enjoy each others company, and of course drink wine!
Follow the link below to be on the email list to receive updates about The Book Club. I promise not to email spam you. This subscription is only for communication about The Book Club.
Now all that is left is to purchase the first book and get reading. I have already started to read Rachel Hollis’s book, and I am really enjoying this so far. It has been great to start the year with some motivation. And if you have seen her podcast The Rise Together podcast, you know how passionate she is. So I hope this book will be a favorite of yours!
I hope you will grab your favorite glass of wine or tea, get cozy in your favorite reading chair, light a candle, and read away!
Happy Reading! And I am so excited you are along for the journey!
